Do Something For Your Freezer
August 29th, 2009 -- Posted in Appliances | Comments OffTo achieve good level of safety and efficiency, the freezers require maintenance and care from you. Make sure to read all manufacturers instructions to ensure proper installation and use. To keep your upright or any kind of small cheap freezer running properly, there are some important issues you need to take care of
Choose a cool and dry room for your new appliance, and it’s best if the room has more then 40 degrees Fahrenheit. This will allow the freezer mechanism to run at its best. Always locate the freezer away from heat sources. For example, do not place your freezer near a heating vent. Avoid putting this appliance on places that get sunlight at any time of the day
When you put your freezer at the place you want it, be sure that it is leveled. Your doors will close and open properly at all time if you do this. You can do one more neat trick by tilting the upright freezer away from the front which will help the doors to close easy.
To avoid losing cold air, make sure you clean the door seals. A tight seal is important to maintain cold temperatures inside your freezer. Position the chest freezer with adequate air circulation on all sides. The freezer must disperse heat from the inside and heat generated by the unit itself. In case the circulation has limits of some sort, your appliance will have to work much harder to achieve this.
Keep your best freezer well stocked for greater efficiency. Filling your appliance at least 3/4 full is more efficient than an almost empty freezer. Defrost the freezer according to manufacturer directions, but not less than once a year. If the frost build up more then half an inch, then it’s time to do some defrosting.
You should always close the door, there is no need that they are opened longer then 10 seconds. If you want to know what exactly you have in your freezer without checking it manually, you can keep the list of items at the doors. When you take or put food inside, you can update the list with a pen that is just near the freezer.
If you follow tips given here, you will have a freezer that will serve you for a long time, without problems. There won’t be any problems with your freezer if you stick to these grounds rules.
