Lets Talk About Custom Pool Tables
Monday, August 31st, 2009Are we beyond the era of customizations? I don’t think so. If you look at the custom pool tables that are on offer, you will know that I’ve got a point. Some say that those who are extra rich are the blessed, but looking at the custom pool tables and the fact that they can even be bought second hand sometimes, dismisses the claim up to a certain extent.
So what is the big deal about owning a custom pool table? Well, for those who can afford to have a custom pool table at home, it will add to the whole glamour and glory while giving you a piece of equipment for you to play around with. For those who own restaurants and other leisure businesses, custom pool tables will become one tool which will attract customers.
Now the next question is, ‘how custom are these custom pool tables?’ Of course, this is something that can vary depending on the budget you have. Custom pool table makers now customize the pool tables to your requirements as you please, given you can spend on it. Did you know that they even sell transparent custom pool tables? Well, how players keep their concentration in tact while playing on a transparent custom pool table may be a worthwhile question to ask, but when it comes to the cool look it adds to your surroundings, the transparent ones really add class to your life. Oh by the way, they are popularly known as glass top pool tables, in case if you want to go checking out one!
The felt color is another thing that can be easily customized according to your liking. So when most people talk about custom pool tables, they talk about a customized felt color. But that is not all; custom pool tables usually come in different sizes and designs as well.
There are some companies that dedicatedly work to customize pool tables. They would have usually done this job for decades or even for generations. So you’d be lucky if you can find an industry leader in custom pool tables with experience, before you settle on buying a second hand pool table.
Warranty is something that you should be keen about in every case. If you were to buy a used custom pool table, chances are that you will only be given a few months of warranty. But if you were getting a manufacturer to carve a special table for you, make sure to ask for lifetime warranty.
Finding A Billiards Store Near You
Monday, August 31st, 2009When it comes to buying a pool table, it can be a great investment for any home provided it has been cared for and well-maintained, it will last you a lifetime. A range of games for all skill levels can be played on a good table so it is important to think of all the factors before making your purchase. Start with where to make your purchase and which billiards store would you opt to go to.
A billiards store would have a selection of pool tables to choose from, so start with the size of the table you would like to purchase. Select a room in the house in which the table will be placed making sure there is plenty of room beside all corners of the table. Determine your budget because with each additional feature the cost of the table will increase. Research on if you wish to buy a brand new pool table from the billiards store or a used one but keep in mind when moving the table a few times can put a lot of wear and tear on it.
When at the billiards store check out the features of the most expensive tables and decide on the features that you value and are within your budget, such as slanted sides that are usually stronger. It is better to choose a frame that is pre-built in a factory as it is stronger than the ones assembled in the house. The most essential element of the pool table is the playing surface that includes the cloth, the rails and the cushions, so make sure special attention is paid to it before purchasing. Brand name tables are always a safe purchase. Don’t be stingy when it comes to professionally installing the table because it will certainly be worth the money once it is put together correctly. Always hire an installer who is certified by a distinguished billiards store.
Before making your purchase of the pool table, check with the billiards store on their guarantees and service after the sale in a written contract. By any chance if the pool table breaks make sure the billiards store is still in business because it might have a warranty for a couple of years but the store might not be in business anymore. It is safest to purchase a pool table from a reliable billiards store that has been in business for a while. Check around with friends for any recommendations too.
A Billiards Rack Is Used To Organize Billiard Balls
Monday, August 31st, 2009A billiards rack is a frame usually of plastic or wood that is used to organize billiard balls at the beginning of a game. A triangular shaped billiards rack is used for eight-ball, straight pool, one-pocket, snooker, bank pool and many other games. Each game has different rules for racking.
Near the foul spot of the pool table, place one corner of the billiards rack. This corner is referred to as the apex. The proper position to place the racked balls is marked by the foul mark which is a small marking. It is traditional to put the yellow 1 ball at the apex for eight-ball game whilst the rest of the balls may be placed in any order except for the 8 ball which has to be placed at the center. Sometimes the balls are placed alternating with a solid and a striped ball, this is mostly seen in amateur competitions. Make sure to push the billiards rack so that the ball at the apex is on the foul mark and that the side that is opposite the apex is close to the end of the table and parallel to it too. It is important that the balls are packed tightly together or when the break shot is made they will not break properly. Push the balls toward the apex with the tips of your fingers so they are packed tightly.
Depending on the game the order of the balls in the billiards rack varies although the steps to racking the balls are the same. Such as for straight pool the 1 ball is placed at the right corner and the 5 ball is placed at the left corner. The rest of the balls may be in any order. For a game of bank pool and one ball, the balls may be placed in the billiards rack at random.
Even though a diamond-shaped billiards rack is used for the game of nine-ball, the triangular shaped billiards rack can be used and most of the time is during a nine-ball game. When using a diamond- shaped billiards rack, one of the two opposing corners that have smaller angles serves as the apex, having the rack aligned so that the opposing corner is pointed directly at the closest end of the table. The 1 ball is always placed at the apex because in the nine-ball game the cue ball must strike the lowest numbered ball on the table first on each shot, whilst the remaining balls can be placed in random order in the rack.
Billiards Pool Table
Monday, August 31st, 2009With the game of billiards comes the discussion about the billiards pool table, the billiards cues and the billiard balls. Choosing the correct billiards pool table can have a definite effect on your overall performance as a player. The quality, style, the size and design of the table are what must be often looked for. Let’s take a closer look at each point and consider how one must select the best type of billiards pool table they want.
The size of the billiards pool table is a very important factor. But before considering the size of the billiards pool table, you ought to measure the room you are planning to keep the table. Once you’ve measured the size of the room and have an idea about the size of the table, keep extra space for the players as they need to move around in order to make the perfect shots.
Most pool tables usually come in 7, 8 or 9 foot measurements. Many players opt for the 8 foot billiards pool table as the ideal size for a home games room. The 9 foot billiards pool table is used in clubs and offices that have a large area of space. The 7 foot table can sometimes be too small.
Once the above has been negotiated, the next step should be about the lighting facilities. The game of pool requires one to have lighting placed directly above the billiards pool table, in a central position. Having pool table lights hanging from the ceiling will prevent shadows being cast across the surface of the pool table.
When it comes to the felt color of the billiards pool table, the traditional colors known by most players have been the green and sometimes blue. But recently, individuals have been using different shades of colors to match their billiards game room.
The next tip to consider is the finish of the billiards pool table. Most players believe that hardwood gives one of the best looking finishes to any kind of billiards pool table. The more traditional types would include oak, cherry and walnut. Some individuals may opt for the black finish, which is seen by many as being more ideal for a modern type of billiard game room.
The final thing to be considered is the type of material used for the bed that’s underneath the playing surface of a billiards pool table. This of course can be made from wood, slate or by using a synthetic material.

Casting Jigs For Walleye
No other artificial walleye lure will catch walleyes as consistently as a lead head jig designed specifically for the walleye. A walleye jig is a natural choice for walleyes because it is easy to keep on the bottom where the fish spends most of their time.
Among the most versatile of artificial lures for walleye , a walleye jig can be fished many different ways. You can anchor your boat and cast for walleye, you can drift your boat and use bottom bouncers or do vertical jigging techniques for walleye, or you can do a slow troll using either bottom bouncers or plain jigs. And, you can fish a walleye jig plain when the walleyes are biting, or you can tip it with live bait when the fishing is slow.
Casting walleye fishing jigs
The most widely used jigging for walleye fishing technique is casting and this technique works great in shallow water. If the walleyes are in the shallows it’s important not to spook them. Make sure you anchor far enough away, but still being able to cast into the shallows.
If you plan on working a shallow reef , anchor in a deep water position , so the the wind will push you to the edge of the reef. If you get no walleye bites, pull up the anchor and move about 20 yards to your left or right and drop anchor again. Continue this process untill you find the walleye.
If the walleye are not schooled, and are located at different points about the reef, or breakline, drift your your boat near the reef or breakline but but not on it, then cast your wallye fishing jig towards the shallows working the jig back towards you.I would recommend you have your electric trolling motor ready to keep you running parallel with the reef or breakline. If you catch a walleye toss out a marker and work the area until the fish stop biting then move on.
Sometimes walleyes will be suspended off the bottom. You will need to find the depth they are located at by casting your jig for walleye and counting as the jig descends. Very your count count before you start reeling in until you get a hit. It is very important that you remember your count when you got your walleye hit. I will usually write the count down on paper for future use. Now repeat the same count and begin working the area.
Remember casting jigs for walleye work best when the fish or in the shallows.

Walleye Fishing Jigs:Why Vertical Jigging Catches Walleye
Sunday, August 30th, 2009Click Here To See Old School walleye fishing Secrets From 12 Backcountry Walleye Masters!
Vertical Jigging For Walleye
No other artificial walleye lure will catch walleyes as consistently as a lead head jig designed specifically for the walleye. There are definite, very simple reasons the walleye jig is so universal. Walleye spend the majority of there time on the bottom of what ever type of water they are located in.
Jigging Vertically For Walleye Tips And Techniques
If you intend to use vertical jigging techniques to catch walleye, you will need to select a jig that is heavy enough to go to the bottom, and keep your line vertical. The jig needs to bounce gently off the bottom as you move in either situation. You will need to let your drift or troll gently bounce your walleye jig along the bottom contour. It is very important that you adjust your line length to adjust for depth changes. If the bottom get shallower, reel in line and if the bottom gets deeper let more line out. It is very important your line stay vertical at all times, Walleye are very light biters and you need to be able to identify any slight change in line movement if you want to catch fish. The change I am talking about is any slight difference from the routine movement of the line from the jig bouncing off the bottom. If you see a change immediately set your hook, with a quick jerk upward.
Probably the best time to use a vertical jigging for walleye technique would be in deeper water situations.Casting for walleye in deeper water is really not a got walleye fishing technique. The reason for this is when you are vertical jigging you can bounce your walleye jig much higher off the bottom and give it more action then casting. Subtle little difference such as more action from the jig bounce off the bottom can be the difference of you catching fish or not.
Probably the key reason vertical jigging in deep water works so well is “the feel” of the walleye hit. When your line is vertical it is much easier to feel a walleye strike. The reason is you are using less line and line stretch does not slight-en the feel of a walleye strike.
Rivers and lakes are excellent places to use vertical jigging for walleye techniques. In a lake , jig vertically while letting the wind push your boat over hidden structure. Make sure if you are in a river that you drift with the current. You may half to slow your drift enough so your walleye fishing jig bounces nicely off the bottom.

Does The Billiards Cues That You Use Make A Difference?
Saturday, August 29th, 2009Billiard or the game of pool is actually a game of precision. For Americans, it is one of the most popular types of indoor games played mainly in the office or clubs. Each year you will see so many competitions being held all around the world. This is one of the prime reasons why billiards have gained such a huge popularity.
The billiard table and of course the billiards cues are the two most essential tools needed for the game of pool. The quality of each tool can definitely have an impact on the players’ performance. It’s true that the billiard balls have their say in this as well. But the billiard table and the billiards cues are the two main, indispensable types of tools that are needed.
If you are in need of buying a billiard table, there are a few important factors that you may want to consider. These include the table size, its shape and the price. Do you think your office room or the club can accommodate the table? If you are planning on getting the table for your home, will it have a spacious room that could fit the table? Make sure your answer is a big ‘yes’ before purchasing one.
The next most important thing that is needed for the game of pool is the billiards cues. If you plan on buying billiards cues that are of low quality, then be prepared for a lousy game of pool. Experts and professional players will always tell you that the performance of every player lies in the quality of the billiards cues as well as the billiard balls. Therefore, your level of performance may lie in the quality of billiards cues that you decided to purchase.
If you are a novice player and have no idea about how to choose the best out of the many billiards cues on display, why not try out the following; first of all try holding the cue in hand and attempt a few shots with it. Do you get a right feel about them?
If you are still unsure, try and get the help of a more experienced player. Within minutes, experienced players will be able to tell the difference of quality in the billiards cues. If the billiards cues are defective in any way, your shots will never be perfect. Therefore, make sure you buy the best type of billiard table and billiards cues if your aim is it become the best player you can.

All these places mentioned above need constant maintenance and one of the major issues they would come across would be proper maintenance of billiard lights. Billiard lights are rather important for the player to perform well as proper lighting defines the angles and the positions of the balls. A simple search on the World Wide Web would take you through everything you need to know about billiard lights and their importance. Even though online shopping for billiard lights is easy, informative and timesaving it is a bit risky as well. The main reason for this would be the increasing amount of scammers and frauds that inhabit the biggest network in the world. Therefore extreme caution and excessive double checking is a must when buying billiard lights online. Visit trusted websites and staying away from suspicious ones is as important as checking for validation when giving away your credit card numbers.
So what are you still waiting for? Get yourself a billiard table and an amazing set of billiard lights and start challenging your friends now. Or at least practice for sometime.

The balls that come in two colors are called stripes.
The normal type of billiard balls used will be much smaller than the balls used for Carom. If you are a trainee player, there are also billiard balls that could be used for this purpose. Billiards And Barstools The Perfect Match
Tuesday, August 18th, 2009Billiards and barstools go hand in hand if you are planning on creating the ultimate game room for your home or even for your club. If you thought that creating a game room was difficult, think again. Making it an ‘ultimate’ game room does not mean it has to be filled with expensive billiards and barstools. The following tips will help you create a game room you never even dreamt about.
The first thing you will have to do is forget about the billiards and barstools and focus on the wall colors that will look perfect for the game room. Creating the perfect ambience must be done before selecting the billiards and barstools. A two-toned color could be selected by using the top border in one color and painting the rest with a complimentary color.
You could also add a little fun to this and try to match one of your favorite colors selected from a sports team that you like, your high school colors or anything that caught your eye. Always make sure the darker color remains the border color and the lighter shade becomes your main wall color. This will look nice especially when you add the billiards and barstools with the posters and other cool signs you like.
The next thing to consider would be the flooring. For this, you could use either hardwood or choose from a range of floorings such as cork, carpet tiling, vinyl, ceramic tiling, etc.
Now comes the billiards and barstools. When you are thinking about the furniture that will match a game room for billiards, focus on the theme you are trying to create. If you want a beach or Hawaiian effect, try to get billiard tables, barstools, etc made out of wicker or rattan. If it’s a Green Bay Packer’s theme you want, try to purchase barstools and other accessories made out of green or yellow vinyl.
Once the billiards and barstools have been purchased, next thing you must do is get the perfect lighting. A sports theme would be perfect with pub lamps, floor lamps or swag lights used. Bamboo lamps and hanging lanterns would be much suitable for an Asian theme.
Music can liven up the whole area. So make sure you have at least a juke box nearby. Decorate your walls with posters and neon signs but do not add too many as it will end up looking messy. With a few additions, your ‘ultimate’ game room would be ready to be occupied!
